Sitting here tonight I call up the memory of your face The easy smile and the twinkle in your eyes Fixing your gaze on me, I see a question in your eyes “Trust a man, just one more time?” Out of habit I shrink back, my body begins to quake Fear of a broken heart and the torment that it brings But from somewhere within a tiny voice takes hold “Do it, just this one last time.” With an unsteady glance, with a shaky hand With closed eyes and a heaven ward prayer I extend trembling fingers to interlock with yours “Lord, make it work, just this one time.” |

I like it. I have felt like that man before, hoping that somehow I can be an example of someone different, guarding a heart instead of breaking it. “We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best that we can find in our travels is an honest friend.” –Robert Louis Stevenson |

Thanks you all for the kind words. This poem holds special meaning to me. Know yourself before you try to know someone else. |

I extend trembling fingers to interlock with yours “Lord, make it work, just this one time.” You are a brave woman and an excellent poet. |
