Pressed with a thumb Into the warm, moist, loam, The seed swells, fecund, Tears open, pushes home. Down into the darkness, Up, and into the light; Tugged by the sky, Held beyond sight. Rooting and springing, Between night and day; A mystery unfolding, The heart of the play. Then, as if it were nothing, Folding back into clay. |
