A black-hearted scarecrow walked around in my shoes. Some folks claim that we were one and the same. He liked to bend his elbow. He loved the Devil's brew. It's a crying shame what he did to my name. Standing out by a cornfield, he met a mountain dove. She stayed perched on his heart nearly all the time. She gave him sunshine and a dose of love. Now I've got a good heart and I'm a friend of mine. So, give my best to Janet Marie. She was always good for something to do. If anybody's missing me... I'll take time to say a prayer for you. But if you care for the scarecrow... Then let your heart be light. 'Cause me and my little dove are doing alright. I'm still a scarecrow and she's still my mountain dove. She built her a nest down deep in my heart. It glows like a halo. Woven out of Love. Nothing in this world will ever tear it apart. So, give my best to Ol' Jim Beam. He was always there when I didn't want to be. Things aren't always as they seem... That old black-hearted scarecrow was not me. But if you care for the scarecrow... Then let your heart be light. 'Cause me and my little dove are doing alright. |

Uriah A lot of your poetry is very lyrical, as is this. I feel like I could sing the tune of it. Enjoyed! [This message has been edited by Martie (03-06-2006 02:31 PM).] |
