Last night I was visited by the Man in the Moon; He wasn't too bright, but totally full... Of all he could pack in a pipe and a spoon; He was fighting gravitational pull. The last time I'd seen him, he was only a man... And had not reached his present height; Now, he greets me with a trembling hand, And asks about spending the night. He knew me as an astronaut, in the past; We had shared a flight or two; He never returned from one of his blast; And I no longer flew. See the Man in the Moon... He's high and pale Staying up all night... And hides come the light of day. Crater eyes... Staring off into space... Showing his face... Til the sun comes to chase him away. He was in his final orbit... But, I could not grant his descent. Nothing was shown of the man I had known. I wondered where he went? And I felt kind of sorry, for the man who was gone; But this was not him, so he'd have to move on. The Man in the Moon aint nothing but a head; I turned off the lights and went back to bed. When the morning sun came, I undid the lock; There on my porch was a piece of Moon rock ! I do not smoke it, so I chucked it real far... I cussed the Man in the Moon ; And thanked my lucky stars. |

Loved this one Uriah, it's always nice to meet another retired astronaut. :-) May we always keep our feet on the ground. |
