And a good friend said
Something about hope
Being the religion
Of the irrational

That it is easier to be blind
Regardless to the eyes
To listen to the heart’s fantasies
Whatever the ear may hear

He lit a cigarette  . . .
Exhaled halos of blue
Into the cool evening air

That it’s silly
To really believe
Tomorrow will be any better
In so far as what it is that actually matters

And all I said
Looking up into the starry night
Was Oh . . .

I like this style on you.

the conversational snippet fascinates me as poetic device, and you, as always, intrigue me with your spin on things.

I sometimes get the feeling you don't particularly like me, or even care for me to reply.

But liking me ain't in the guidelines, so put up with me, or if you prefer, in the future I can be a silent admirer of your work.

When I like the poetry, I tend to say so.

and I like the poetry John.

Well done.

wull I like ya Serenity, and BETCHA John does to...

anyway, I agree with Karen's comment, adding, there was a strange familiarity about this?

serenity blaze,

No, I always appreciate evidence
someone is reading, yet I don't typically
respond unless a question is asked.

As to the style on this one, it just
wandered in.  I myself can clearly
detect Mark Strand's influence;
in fact a deliberate link.  I don't master the
moods when writing; I pretty much step
aside from whatever tools I have and let
them have their way.

Thanks all for reading.

John

It often beats the heck out of reality. *S*

I like this very much... especially the ending. *S*
