Outside
Beyond the front yard
Boys and girls
Still stroll two by two
On their way to school

The man or woman
One is currently sleeping with
Softly sighing lies as usual
Smiling in the bed

That married couple
Across the street
Quickly kiss before they enter cars
To go on with their separate lives

They drive apart passing by
The broken forms of long dead loves
Empty fields unmarked graves
The cannon drumming in their heads
