I heard the gray wind batter the pane with uneven clicks of cold rain. Still, I grabbed not a wool or light jacket before stepping out onto the frigid stage of winter’s final act. “This is crazy!” I thought as I made my way down the drive, now practically dragging the wheeled garbage container; fingers numb, cheeks stinging. “Memory is not wisdom” my inner voice mocked, practically chuckled. Indeed! “Memory is not wisdom”, I thought as I threw myself back into the safe, warm haven of a log fire-warmed home. Curling up with the cat beneath the hug of kind blankets I thought of you… Always, it seems. Why did I let you go? The rain, soon, turned to snow - and in the quiet, soft, of hear-myself-think... Why, oh why did I let you go? Memory is not wisdom. |

"Memory is not wisdom," but it is life collected in all the hollows and echoes and questions marks. Hugs, ~ Karen ~ |

Robert "The rain, soon, turned to snow - and in the quiet, soft, of hear-myself-think..." I am often in that place, "hear-myself think". Everyone must drag it around with them. Really enjoyed your poem! |
