Well I grew up... In a Wonderful World of Color. I learned to tie my shoes... With Captain Kangaroo. I sang along with Mitch. The Clampets struck it rich; And Opie had a crush on Thelma Lou. I think the lightning bugs back then were brighter. Or the nights were darker, Due to fewer lights. Each one of us can bring to mind A simpler place and time, But as I watch my children sleep tonight... I wonder... How in Gods name can this old world remain? I know the Master works in mysterious ways... But Lord God help them all, If they have to recall... These times As being simpler days. They're all caught up... In a World Wide Web of worry; Where children... Commit the most amount of crimes. Theres a thin line between the rules... of penitentiary and schools; And cable took the place of nursery rhymes. Our government... Has sworn to do its duty; And prepare them for the Twenty First Century. I hope that they can cope... Beneath the heavy yoke; But they can't lift the burden off of me... Of wondering... How in God's name, can this old world remain? I know the Master works in mysterious ways... But Lord God, help them all, If they have to recall... These times As being... simpler days. |

"Theres a thin line between the rules... of penitentiary and schools; And cable took the place of nursery rhymes." Oh, how well I am seeing this. We are having such a problem getting my son to go to school at the moment. I pray they cope, as well, dear friend! |
