In the gentle hush of approaching dawn, That precedes day's greeting chorus; I sit in SELF, at edge of lawn, Where the garden meets the forest. Later, as the world of man makes haste... I share the roles of both guest and host; Nature caters four senses and coffee serves Taste; The choir breaks for crumbs from my toast. As the day settles in and duties begin, I pen rhymes to the Powers that Be. Then, breaking for bread...my body is fed, And I nourish my friends in the trees. Tap ! tap ! A gentle rap. Flesh and bone upon aged wood. I'm drawn from the arms of a blissful nap, And told that "God is good!" |
