Furrowed, the soils of mind, wandering the meadows of earth in quiet walk. Resting upon the lament of souls, awaiting the rise of nature’s green from the frozen bowel. And, beyond the rise of forest sentinels standing stalwart against the heaven’s hue, soft layers of winter’s frozen tears blanket the reaching peaks, and challenge the crescent moon to shimmer softly in wait of dawn. And when the morrow brings the solemn ache of quiet solitude, a queen shall arise, looking beyond the window’s sill and smile...knowing that her moment is nigh...when a soft kiss awakens the stir of passionate stew as two dine upon the apple’s core awaiting the chosen moment of love’s release amongst the white dunes of lonely drifts where queens checkmate kings and rooks await the castle’s parry and bishop's thrust... |

The analogy of chess is superb. I was really pulled into the poem by the imagery of dark sentries against the horizon, because I live in a village surrounded by dark green mountains-- frosted, lately, too. I have one suggeston, however: perhaps "passion" or "passion's" would be stronger in the phrase "awakens the stir of passionate stew." The intrigue is palpable... ~ Karen ~ |

As much as I enjoy chess, I never ever, imagined in my wildest dreams, that such beauty could be painted around it. Magnus, I think, for me, of all your work I have read (but then it is difficult to remember it all at once), this is your masterpiece. I love every stanza, but I think my favourite stanza is the forest one. Thank you so much for this. I wallowed in every word. - Owl |
