not exactly what I'd planned (for Huan Yi's challenge) |

When I turned forty I wanted to release doves but buying birds seemed ludicrous besides it cost too much so I thought, "butterflies" they might suffice like at weddings that I'd seen but still, that cost a bit too much and I scratched that idea off of my list after much thought I decided to purchase a tiara and coronate myself because after living a life of somebody's daughter somebody's sister somebody's girlfriend somebody's student somebody's mistress somebody's wife somebody's mother I could finally be...myself. I would reign the realm of me with all the dignity of queen. And indeed, a line did form and had I owned them I might have worn gloves to shake the hands so formally and yes, some even humored me with a curtsy or a bow but little did I know back then that I was not saying "hello" renewed in life upon a throne but goodbyes and grief, godspeed - to me - and then to them. * * * Huan Yi's challenge: /pip/Forum7/HTML/000674.html |

My forties were better than my thirties. Which in reality isn't saying much...lol. Nowadays I wear a tiara whenever I can haul myself out of bed in the morning. You are simply amazing Karen. I tip my tiara to you and if I could, I would hug away your tears. luv, Chrislane Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance. |

I think I looked and felt my best in my forties.. But I also think every woman looks good at any age wearing a tiara!! Be your own person...that's the ticket. Heart hugs to ya darlin' lady. In the midst of winter, I found there lives within me.. An invincible summer. |

although I cannot yet succumb to this challenge, I can surely empathize with your message . . . Doesn't take an age for those kind of goodbyes . . . Bringing me right to you, as you always do, K. |

thank you all for reading. and grin, although I know it would soooooo behoove John/Huan to honor me with an acknowledgement, I just look at it as part of being forty. (ish?) Every day, in every way, I become more like Kathy Bates! and oh I celebrate... ta for now |

"When I turned forty I wanted to release doves" Maybe not what you had planned but beautifully done. You have much to celebrate. |
