Praise the God that drives The fiery chariot across The frozen winter sky- Piercing Cirrus-which is Nothing but the breath Of overheated stallions, That make the carriage fly Above what all seems dead; Corpses with arm branches, Dressed in funeral darks Wearing ermine overcoats- Alive, but faining death; But life has not been lost, The idle trees attend To needed rest, On an earth that's very wide. Science says-the teamster is tired, After lumbering the suns weight All last summer-but faith says, He will drive it once again, Passing equinox-on to solstice, Until it reaches zenith-crest. So let us eulogize, but write no eulogy. Extol-obey and celebrate, February canons: Frost is white, bone in soil-death Remains (as hard as) but winter Chalk is impermanent-will pass From earth in time increments; Let us practice antilement, bones will remove Allowing root reflesh, and thus renew The gladdened earth, with flower fresh again. Remember, That shallow in, just under- Jonquils sleep, their trumpets Kept in cases..ready tuned To songs of spring- musicians Waiting, tiny wren conductors To give their arpeggio cues. |

This left me wanting only one thing more--a soundtrack! I have a friend who creates universes by the act of pointing one simple finger... just like this . . . You have this gift too. I feel all sparkly now. |

Very hard to pick a favorite verse Ford so many well thought out and precisely written to chose from. My eyes floated down the page, eager for the next verse, and next. Deeply thought provoking, and much enjoyed sir, brava! |

This is an honest to goodness epic. The second I finished the first stanza I knew it would be great and it was. Thank you for sharing it. Cheers - Ed "Give me a museum, and I'll fill it." |

Ford Your poetry is amazing! Now that it is March....how about some words from you? I hope you didn't let your muse out to shovel snow or icefish, and thus catch the nasty like mine did. I miss reading you! |
