ah my dear sir
my knight in shining armor
lying in verdant grass
‘neath a perfumed lilac
I weave small yellow flowers into
your dark feather curls
kiss your scarlet lips
and whisper improbable promises into
your ear
my head lies on your broad chest
hears your secret heart
as you finger wisps of my hair
a love hand on my shoulder
I tie red
   yellow
       blue scarves
to your upper arm
pronouncing you mine
before you gain your dancing steed
and ride from my sight

ah my dear sir
I shall miss your face
your heart
your courage
and look to the day of your return
but do not think
this lady fair fooled
I know under your
shining armor
you are naked
cold
and scared to death

I think that this poem holds much truth to it. Because we are all ( yes even us women) scared and naked underneath

Beautiful writing Kate, very romantic writing but I really love the last lines of the second stanza it really gives the piece extra depth. Thank you for sharing such an enjoyable read.

You have bared the truth that lies beneath the sheen.

Thank you for the inspiration, and the poem.

Final lines of the last stanza tells all... reveals all... in truth. Nicely crafted, Milady.
