wind that is not wind besets spools of it whirl my paper voice away until I am atoms singing over the hills where I cannot go stretched over the comb I vibrate still. the eye loses acuity; colors fade like sound into a murmuring distance until the yellow green of tones blend spun to one gold memory threads binding like a song |

Somewhere, I see a boy pursing his lips just to make odd music! |

That boy blew his loudest hums into his paper & comb until his lips felt like there was hair on them, and it was all standing on end.....to put this poem onto that paper....and before he was even finished, part of him became the paper. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

RL, This is very very good. Would like with your permission to include it in my Word file of poems by others, ( which I pass out to anyone I think might be interested; even those I don't). What brought this on? Again, very very good. John |

Absolutely, Huan Yi -- I'd be proud to have it there! This poem started with the feeling that my voice, as a poet, is made of paper....and therefore so am I. What I put on paper may vibrate for a while, but then it fades into memory of the song I sang, and then...to silence. I guess that's a common feeling among poets -- the most famous instance being Keats' gravestone -- "Here lies one whose name was writ in water" -- so at least I'm in good company. Speaking of passing on those poems, would it be possible to send it to me? I think it's a beautiful idea, and I'd very much like to read the works that so inspire a poet of your strength. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

Ed "the eye loses acuity; colors fade like sound into a murmuring distance until the yellow green of tones blend spun to one gold memory" Sometimes, it is the memory of a song that brings a complete heart sound, that includes the year, the surroundings, and the people that you love. This poem is amazingly simple, yet so complex. Stunning!! |

I didn't expect a poem titled "Kazoo" to immediately become one of my favorites... but you never cease to surprise me. *S* This is so lovely, my friend... In spite of both yours and Keats' superb capture of a poet's feeling of transience, there are some voices that will resonate on heartstrings long after the ears cease to hear... yours is one. This is magnificent! |
