Thursday, I left you, hopeless
Abandoned upon the silver of a baby spoon
Frequently you have visited when I am not here
Knocking just to listen to the hollow
Marshmallows and candy spill form your hands
Into my wooden bucket, they thump
While the painting you gave me of an Easter sunset
Hangs crooked on the wall
Aster flows neatly from my glass jug
Like daisies cheerful, yet tomorrow
I will attend their wake
Mournful, my heart will bleed a thousand times
Until new flowers appear
Carefully, the phone rings,
It knows not to sound when I am sleeping
Alarming, it is you again
Frantic as a pig, bare bellied and desperate
But I left you hopeless on Thursday.

I know I am reacting like I have never read you before.

But if I have?

It wasn't under this name.

Excellent.

"Marshmallows and candy spill form your hands

I am in awe of this.

My sister had such a print. A copy of a very famous painting, and to mess with her mind, sometimes while she slept, I would take it, and hand it upside down on the wire, and all the flowers, (asters) which were painted delicately in spill, would be standing erect and proud--and I would time how long it took her to notice.

She cussed me every time.

I am enjoying your work very much, Dominique.
