http://www.geocities.com/a6a2a9/Snowy4.jpg Every morning I awaken he's there. He looks in the window at me as Im getting dressed. Then he runs around the cabin to the door. It's the same thing day after day. I step outside with a bowl of meat and he's a happy animal. What's life in the wild without some kind of creature taking an interest in us? Snowy is his name. The wisest of the wolves and the most trusting of the pack. With out a word we speak with our eyes. I fear and trust him enough to stay a respectful distance. One day I'll wake up and he will have eaten all my food. Such a goofy critter is Snowy. With out him I might be a madman for sure. We need company of another kind from time to time to re-assure ourselves that we too are born with instinct to live. Without instinct we might just as well be vegitables awaiting harvest. My intuition tells me that there are more wolves in my future then I'll know what to do with. Thanks for being an obedient wolf and friend. ---------------------------------------------------- Snowy was 16 when he died. Spent 15 years in captivity after being attacked by an older wolf. He was left deaf and mute as a result of his injuries. You'll be missed Snowy. 1988-2004 |

"What's life in the wild without some kind of creature taking an interest in us?" What an interesting thought this is. And I have to agree - what would life be like on our streets if no one had an interest in who we were...chewy and delicious. "I fear and trust him enough..." And this is just perfect. Fear - which is not so positive and Trust - which is way positive. I like this. Great write. All things for a reason - and that mishap with the older wolf brought you a relationship with Snowy you may not have had otherwise. Beautiful. jm |

Just want to thank all of you for the comments. I have lots more poems to post but need to get those ones typed up. Just dont have ambition to type my poetry up so I keep it in a notebook to age. If you could only see how yellow the pages are looking. |
