And in the darkest hours when the northern night light did shine itself over the coldest valley and Hilltop and my new found friends, the meandering moose did stare back at me as I wandered the woods wondering, and wondering why I did wander so much. But to tell the truth? Even my rainbow dancing lights did not always provide a sufficient glow to mask the dirty deeds I did see below the freeze-thaw lines of demarcation that seem forever to stand between Humans But then again? Whenever I danced within the shadow of Aurora’s brilliant lights I did see my own reflection... taunting, cajoling, sometimes thanking, reflecting all that was in my past, my present, teasing me into the future. And oh, I did wander and wonder. Is there a future to quest? I asked my meandering moose, Moosatchi and Willow, my adopted twins of the northernmost frozen woods (no Boggledy Woods, mind you) as at the height of a winter solstice night I did creep ‘neath whispering willows, frozen like some giant Popsicle sticks meant to be savored, just waitng to be licked while wandering the ‘morrow’s desert and with froze toes and hands I did splay the sheets of ice and snow, oh, don’t you know they were as cold to a finger’s touch as they were warming to the heart? But then, that is another story left to be told, perhaps some day by some other chickadee. |
