Your eyes once so bright,
full of life and mischief
now are closed as I hold
you within my arms,cry.
The feline luekemia test showed
postive, the doctor said
there is no cure.
Given a choice I chose to let
you go.
Your soft fur I no more
will brush,stroke.
Your purr,meow I will
not hear nor watch you
play.
No more predawn morning  rubs
upon my cheek will I feel, nibbles
upon my ear.
No more will I see you waiting
ever so patiently at the door
upon my arrival or peeking out
the window.
No more cuddles in the rocking chair.
Your blanket neatly folded,put away.
You'll always be my baby
  my sweet Aurora Marie.
Note: To those of you who have a kitten or adult cat  talk to your vet about
the feline Luekemia test. Its noncurable diease that attacks the immune system,
the only protection is if you get them tested before they
are exposed, get the shots to protect against it as well as feline distemper.
Even indoor cats such as my Aurora Marie was are not immune from it.
Feline Luekemia can be contracted through contact of other cats, sharing food, water bowls, even
through litter boxes.

I well remember my beautiful white Samantha...
in fact, I believe I have remembered
through my time here,
all of the animals that graced me
with their unconditional love...

thank you for sharing your pain...

and allowing us to share our hearts
with your loss.

froggy,

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Your poem is quite beautiful and touching.   I think you did the right thing in letting her go peacefully.  Wish there was something I could say to make your loss lessen, but I know that will only happen with time.  Keep writing.

I too am so very sorry and have known this heartache myself.  No two cats are ever the same either, so I hope you will find a new friend to rub you.  I did!  I also thank you for the information as I have an inside cat, and didn't realize they were also subject to this disease.

Sorry for the loss of your cat, I feel the ache.

Froggy

I've had several cats die from feline luekemia.  I understand it stays in the soil for a long time and can be picked up that way.  I love cats!

In your time of grief you were able to reach and teach ~ and are possibly saving several other cats from contracting this horrid and fatal disease. Fortunately there is immunization available.

Your poem was especially touching for me at this time. Our family cat of 16 1/2 years was found dead on our kitchen floor on Dec. 12. I awoke to the wailing sobs of my children. Then we were all sobbing. My daughters took Magic to be cremated and they insisted on having her ashes brought home. Her ashes may be sitting in an urn in the living room, but her spirit still roams all through the house. She makes sure that we know that she is still with us!

Your poem was beautifully written and extremely moving ~ and your message could save many feline lives!

May the new year bring you peace, love, prosperity, harmony, and joy.

God bless you!

Love,
Linda

I'm sorry for your loss of a kitty too.
Someday I hope they will find a cure for that terrible diease but till then I hope all those with kittys will have them checked, protected.

Hugs to you and your family.

heart-wracking sobs for your angel Aurora Marie and you.  I can't think of all the right things to say and can't see properly for the tears.  I am sure you still talk to her so tell her to look out for my horse, Flicka, in Heaven, if he hasn't already found her.  He adored all people and animals, especially dogs and cats and they/we all adored him.  He will make her feel at home there.

Love and hugs from Tigger, my cat, Daisy my dog and Owl.

aww froggy . . . I know and am sorry.

Lost lots of kitties, had a Tabby that was human or I was feline, I don't know which.

(I first found out about Feline Leukemia when I were pregnant, had to have my cat stay with my mom, the litter box changing could have been harmful to the baby.)

Froggy,
I am so sorry for your loss.I know it gets old to hear that time and again.Hopefully you can find a kitten that will open your heart again. The other thing people need to test their pets for is the Feline/Canine AIDS. Its not like human AIDS but its deadly and has no cures either. I worked for a vet office and fell in love with a Rotwiler Female that two days later had to be put down because she had it the family had spent thousands of dollars trying to save her and couldn't.

Hope you have a great new year and heal your torn heart.
