What lies beneath yon wrathful wave,
but another lost soul in a watery grave.
He reached for some dreamlike giant wave of save
but missed the crest, so it's goodbye poor knave.

Within the flotsam and jetsom he floats,
debris mixed with fun memories of tall sailing boats.
No ship ahoy came to his rescue that day,
no flags or buoys his drowning did delay.

But his spirit is free now to ride all the big waves
alongside others before him in their watery graves.
So do not be sad, for he surfs in each crest
and his ‘hey matey’ echos are sung with the best.

What lies beneath the wrathful waves,
‘tis another free soul in the sea of graves.

Knowing you as I do,
and that every write
came from a moment,
I do wonder what sparked
this bit of inspiration?

Well done, Kacy!

~ And his spirit will roll free with the waves into eternity! "hey matey"...

A wonderful write, Kacy!!!

I enjoy anything that takes me mentally to the sea and your poem did that.  Thanks - and I think his soul is pretty happy now because he floats so far above the sea of graves that it must be of little significance.

K, it's a combination of remembered images that pushed my muse into this write. The horrible scenes from the tsunami of last year, combined with the memory of seeing a young man drown in a sailing accident years ago, all seemed to merge into one. I cannot even let my muse focus long on last year's drownings...thousands upon thousands lost in mere minutes to the powers of the sea. So I chose to make it readable. That's about the level of trauma I can handle today. Thanks for the Q, and the comment.
Sigh, thanks for visiting this one, my friends.

Thank you, Sweetheart.  I know how difficult it is to allow the muse put emotions from the redness of the inner soul, to the black and white of reality.  Sometimes we don't want people to know just how fragile we are, inside.

I'm proud to call you sister.

I write from a very personal place, so I guess it's only natural that I read that way too.

and yet you inspire? perhaps you just planted a seed for me, sister.

You're my hero.

We can grasp great trajedies, we can only describe them. Your gift to us is your ability to express such.  Our gift to you is appreciation for your voice.  Ken

I don't know what to say for once, but do wonder if they are at peace moreso than we are . . .

Much Love Kacy

Thanks, Susie.
I know they aren't suffering any longer, but am never too sure about the more-peaceful-space concept.

too, too much water this year...

I didn't need the reminder and never will again...(of the power of the sea).
