She hopes to rest in Georgia
Where the peach blossoms
Sweet with nectar lay plainly
In the trees
And rose buds laugh
In mama’s garden
There she is still a debutant
Entangled in virgin white ruffles
And a single
Red bow
Her first kiss from the boy next door
Still feels soft against her skin
And her daddy, nightly, sings her
A lullaby
Her body is tired now
The bones that once danced
Carefully, gather her softly
As she sits among her memories
Of Georgia
Where her sister, who had passed
With her demons
Used to laugh and dream
Of fairytales
And her salvation laid
Underneath her fathers charm
She hopes to rest in Georgia
Where she is still the bright-eyed girl
Who marched for people’s future
And changed the world
And when she is in Georgia
She will rest
Until she lays plainly, in the trees
With the peach blossoms

Georgia, a perfect place to rest.

As I lived there for a short time, I can easily appreciate the graces of Georgia.

I enjoyed reading your gentle words.

Who is this wonderful woman?  Rosa Parks comes to mind.  "Marched for people..."

I like the sound of this - the feel of it.  Would be nice to rest in such a place of memories.
