Sitting in a lawn chair Memories brush my face As the last warm breeze of summer Moves on Old faces circle me Laughing, As stories of the past Travel upon the smoke Of a brightly lit cigarette Holding a beer I drink The bitter taste, warm Slides down my throat Filling my stomach with a longing desire To stay Faintly, barbequed meats Fill the nostrils Of the hungry Chips Battered and broken Lie upon the tables Waiting for famished lips to need them While the comfort Of friendship Hangs on everyone’s shoulders Later when the sun has been Put to bed Tired eyes of drunken exhaustion Hug in gentle embraces While promises to do this again Are made With the last sad smile I shut the hard wooden door And sit in my lawn chair Waiting. |

Written in a way that the reader can see and feel the moment. Nicely done. |
