Night softly drapes the wearied soil
of man’s trodden path, covering the
winding trail of labored thoughts and
silken dreams.

Left silently alone as the quest is sought
amongst the grounds of hallowed weep
where the haunt of whisperings chill
the furrowed brow.

Places where flowing sands sift through
the strain of hands hurriedly grasping tomorrow’s
fleeting shadows, struggling to find the
gate that leads into a time never seen, only
sensed as the bitterness of life’s demise stands
upon a corner, counting souls one by one to
eternity’s rest, to the edge of a darkened
abyss as the messenger’s shoe shuffles
and two steps a solitary dance at dawn,
as the band plays on . . .

~ a very powerful image!

A fine piece of writing, my friend!

'Places where flowing sands sift through
the strain of hands'

Superb image and expression;

I like the rhythm in this, too.

Merry  Christmas, Magnus.
