Every Christmas we long
for the past of once was

how many can we touch
how many touch us:

~
last night the snow was falling
beautiful crystals of perfect
harmony

                           I thought of you
and how you would close
your eyes

breathe the flutter
of wonder and new birth
framed by      boughs of
serenity and peace

the faded marks
of something still

your stillness:
reminds me how the sea
sleeps and the music remains

I have always longed for that quiet
to practice letting go
but I am lost to the spelling
of love
when you would
bring your Tuesday tenderness
in strands of silk
for my palms
to trace

I dream still
of your touch
beyond the bend of earth
to the drops I can no longer hold
in spread of wing

arise    from the roots that blend us
indeed holy night

where butterflies rest

I don’t mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

I sure felt this one Lauren - and I swear, you wrote this for our Serenity this day.  Merry Christmas to you, and may you always flutter where butterflies rest in peace, beauty, and serenity.

Wow....there are so many images and uses of language in here that struck me that i can't even begin to repreat them.  A beautiful pice of work.

~ It is almost a shame for me to separate those lines from the rest of this exceptional piece of writing, but I find them especially captivating.

Oh, you are not wrong there. That's one of the big reasons I love Christmas, even though I'm completely un-religious. I'm such a sucker for the past-time. The mists of childhood...

Thank you, thank you, Greeneyes. Beautiful as always. You never let us down.

There are times when I read something and I just don't know what to say.

But it reminded me of something, and don't ask me why (lawsy I might tell you) but it brought to mind the scent of a lovely perfume lingering from someone we wish hadn't left...

sad, but beautifully graceful
