there was a full moon glowing

but you did not see or feel it

I think you write of a situation that many have experienced. It's not a happy one and sometimes questions remain unanswered but "time moves us to the shore of all we're destined for".

in times as such Kacy, I remember the scar of flames gone wild, and that sea of unfamilar fingers mocking me, and it snaps me right out of the pain of loss...knowing...
I'm much better off the way things are...
and quit relieved, to boot.
