If I were ever granted this one thought; to trade even a second for it all, too prompt for time a measure, I would not, for ‘twould prove I had never loved at all. Time is the essence of a lover’s heart; all the world’s gold, jewels, or earthly treasures, could not sum the weight, nor even in part, the volume of love that each second measures. With each beat, time exists and passes by, captured by nature’s law ne’er to return, like the Sun’s fading day- must love deny, the hearts, the love for which they daily yearn? My heart doth wonder what good are hours, lest it prove in time that love’s truly ours? |
