If I Woke Up Black 17 December 2005 if I woke up black I would sprint at once to buy a sun-yellow dress - Owl |

or that lovely melon color...and everything else that just makes me look yellow when I try it on. Pink too. sighing. Can't tell you how many times I have wished I was born with my mother's lovely olive skin. I'm a pasty white chick myself. sigh |

Thanks Serenity Blaze and Martie. I can wear pink and I can sorta wear yellow, but before my hair was grey, I looked like two ghosts in black. Beige and pale green near my face make me look sick - which I (almost) never am! But black people look stunning in every colour, even black or brown, but yellow or orange look double-stunning on them! - Owl |

Owl - I'm not by any means a "yellow person" - don't wear it at all - but I can understand that if more did, it would be easier to spot pedestrians in the dark. Merry Christmas! Helen |

Thanks Enchantress. Glad you liked it. Yes, orange has such an energy about it, doesn't it? Thank you Honeybunch. Giggles! Happy Christmas to you too and to all who read this message (and to all who don't, too!) - Owl |

LOL, I am definitely a "pink" person, no yellow to be found on this bod! I envy those with dark skin as yes they wear those bright colors so well. Seems we always want what we can't have I guess. |

LOL I know what you mean! Bright yellow does look great with my dark brown hair but my skin is at the other end of the color spectrum. My fair skin picks up a bit of the yellow as it does when I used to hold a buttercup under my chin! ~ Just enough reflected to make me look jaundiced! As children at play, we would put a yellow buttercup flower under our chins, and if we saw yellow reflected, that meant that we liked butter! Silly kid schtuff! EA |

Yes, Mysteria, you are right, the poem is far more about yellow on black skins, than not yellow on white skins - although it is that too. Loved your fun reply, Earth Angel. I had heard of that, but didn't actually do it as we don't have buttercups here. - Owl |
