Artist: Ansel Adams

The Forest King
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

While walking thru’ a grove of pines,
One windswept winter’s day,
We spied an ancient oak tree,
~Of grand bearing and display.

It stood as if a sentinel,
~On guard among the pines,
While winds blew thru’ the evergreens
In whistling, wailing whines.

We wrapped our arms around its trunk,
~ Reaching for the other’s hands.
Then leaned in to the weathered bark,
~Melding with the oak and lands.

We sensed the pride and power,
Of this mighty forest king,
And all its innate wisdom,
~Imbued in every ring.

As icy winds chilled our backs,
Our fronts were safe and warm.
The oak shared its strength and love,
To shelter us from storm.

We gave the tree our blessings,
For having stood the tests of time.
And for standing guard in forest deep,
~ As guardian of the pine.

(giggles) Yay, this made me feel like painting "happy little trees" with Bob Ross, yay, this is sooooooo cute, sweet friend, this indeed "spruced" up my afternoon, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This gives "hugging trees" a whole new dimension!  Love it, Linda, and of course, I'm adding it my collection in the library.  I adore tree poems anyway, but to have one from you....this is special!  Love & Light, angel lady.........lily jo (and hugs, too, why of course!)

Linda Lou, my friend, you are so sweet. Your poetry reflects
that. I'll bet the trees even love you, sweet EartheyAngel.
Don't you think so? And, I love to read your replies. You
seem to draw the goodness and love out of people. Do you
know what? I truly think you ARE an angel!!
With love and hugs,
Ethel

Marge ~

Now you have given ME a Christmas present! It pleases me to no end when you save my poems to grace your hearth and home.

Give your grandiegirlies a hug from "Queen Angel"! I can well-imagine how excited they are about Christmas! ~ especially with a grandmother who goes the extra mile to make every occasion extra special!

Lovin' hugs,
