Not even in the bottom of Gentle Spirit's league (her poem: Annual Holiday Ramble of sorts ...), but her poem inspired me to post this.

Today's Tears
10 July 2005

Today,
this Sunday morning,
my tears are

tears of joy, gratitude
optimism and love

and tears of sorrow, pain,
awareness and understanding,

braided over a lifetime
and shed in a butterfly breath,

for the light of family bonds
for the darkness of failures

for
every
blindness,
ignorance,
fear,
tear,
hurt,
and crime
that not obeying God’s rules has caused
since Earth’s first rotation

for a future
of understanding,
love,
kindness
and compassion
towards and from all people
the good, the bad and the in-between
of all nations on Earth,

for a little golden sausage dog
across the road
sitting in the sun
lonely
without
his Maltese Poodle companion
of yore,
(may he have met with my loving horse in Heaven)

for all sad animals, birds, fish, reptiles, and insects,
yes, sad insects, yes

for all things living
glorifying in life
or struggling for existence

for all Evil
over all time

for all Good
over all time

. . .

I wish that we could
all
know
at all times

that although

the greatest good
and the smallest,
are seldom
remembered,
told,
understood
or even noticed,

they are always
more powerful
than the greatest wrong
and worthy of Sunday tears.

I just really liked this part a lot....

"and tears of sorrow, pain,
awareness and understanding,

braided over a lifetime
and shed in a butterfly breath,"

that was what stood out for me, but I really enjoyed all of it

all the greatest good
will be remembered by man
yet the smallest good,
the hardest of all, will be
remembered by God

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

My tears join with yours as all is remembered....Hope and prayer fill my heart that someday there will be no need for tears of sorrow but there will shed only tears of joy....Thank you, for your beautiful words...**big hugs**

Thank you Sea, Enchantress, Earth Angel, Interloper, Startime and NightShade for your kind and understanding responses.  Well said, Interloper.  That is something that I am going to make sure I remember.

you are amazing. You're one of those writers that do so in a way that you can feel their energy, if that makes sense. the words aren't just on a screen, you're in my minds eye, kind of thing, along with your words.

And yes, that 'rambling' of donnas did make perfect sense didn't it.

library again.

FORUM LEADER, I was busy replying when somehow or other I pressed a wrong key by mistake and landed up somewhere else.  If I have semi-duplicated a reply, please delete the previous semi-duplicate, as I didn't finish that one.  I will delete this paragraph when you have deleted the previous copy.  PLEEEEEZ, don't misunderstand me and delete gemjop's reply!

Thank you gemjop for your wonderful compliments.  They mean a lot to me.  I am amazed and very honoured that a poet of your calibre liked this.  I would have thought that you would have found it bare, trite, unoriginal, clichéd, too telling and not enough (if any) showing.  However, it was what I wanted to say, and whether other people are going to like it or not, I write what I want to.  Thank you so much for saying – and even more for thinking – what you did.  It’s funny about the energy thing.  In spite of being 60 (and I llllllllloving being 60) I have boundless physical, mental, spiritual and poetic energy and I have no idea where any of it comes from.
