The sweetest man I ever knew
Early riser with morning dew
Heats the tea, mixes pancake goop
Whispers in the morning
Still love you

The aroma of the bacon
And his pancake makins
Bring me from pillow Rise
He opens the daylight,
Opens warmth
   Opens it with child-like eyes.

At times I feel inadequate
To give him all he gives
This man is a man of love
In everything he lives.

Sounds to be a very special relationship.

Pancakes.....yes,  back in the days,  long
long ago...we always went each year to the
coliseum of our town....the JayCees always
had a big pancake feast...I can still smell
the bacon,  see the light, fluffy perfectly
brown pancakes....covered generously with
Maple syrup...and always a large glass of
cold milk to go with it....Perfect!!

Magnus,

Yes, it is a special relationship--my husband, my best friend.  I wish I could do as much for him.
Among my fondest pancake memories were the ones created by my dad when he used to make animal shapes in the batter to brighten our mornings.

Thanks for commenting, Magnus.  It is good to hear from you.

One secret of a good relationship is that one never feels they do enough for the other.  It sounds like you've found that secret.
(PS.  Once in college, I only had pancake flour for food and ate them for about 6 weeks.  It was some years before I could touch one again.  Thanks for that memory....I think?   Ken

I've heard of living on love, on popcorn, but never pancakes.  Blue berry syrup might entice the desire?  Good luck on the pancake dilemma!

This is so lovely... both the poem... and the relationship it describes. *S*

ah, this made me smile. Pancakes aren't my favourites, but the sweet sentiment in this is lovely.
