the annual x-mas tribute to the old hood. (to the tune of winter wonderland of course..)

DISCLAIMER******DISCLAIMER******DISCLAIMER******DISCLAIMER

The author of this satire recieved, for the first time last year, emails and general complaints for this annual post. The author assures you he is not an outsider making light of ghetto neighbourhoods, but in fact, survived these ordeals, coming to terms with them through humour, dark humour perhaps but then, he is a sick twisted individual. Please try to enjoy the satire, and be thankful that said author doesn't post much, and that his face is mostly covered in his ID photo.

Gunshots ring,
are you listening?
Purp subdued,
Cops are kicking..
A horrible sight
every night
Walking in a ghetto wonderland

Run away, from the sirens
screeching tires, break the silence
pushers and theives
scatter like leaves
when cops come in my ghetto wonderland

In the alley druggies buy a kilo
give themselves a name like Mr. Brown
He'll say are you packing?
He'll say No man!
But just in case the pusher pats him down

Later on
we'll admire
three of four raging fires
I face without fear
these streets as they leer
a white man in a ghetto wonderland

In the alley there's an aging hooker
wears more makeup then a circus clown
every night the cops come down to book her
she doesn't seem to mind going downtown

When it snows
it is thrilling
all the purps inside chillin
I can go out an play
in my honkey white way
Living in my ghetto wonderland

Living in my ghetto wonderland
Living in my ghetto wonderland

you know (love the lawyers name btw) I would laugh at this and only because I LIVE there!

What are you doing in MY neighborhood!

It s a perfect fit, the scheme and I did sing it actually . . . and living around this, no, I take no offense to it, its the truth!

Merry Christmas, Raph . . . I know how much you enjoy this time of year . . . about as much as I do.

Hi, Raph! I enjoyed your Disclaimer almost as much as your lyrics!

Music Note I sang along singing this song
While walking in my T. O. Wonderland. Music Note

How can a song be so sad ~ and yet so funny! ~ at the same time?

That is one adorable pic of you! EA is tucking you in for a good night's sleep. Boy In Bed Sweet dreams!

Welcome back, beddy-bye hugs,

Now, I can't get this out of my head, kind of like listening to John Valby and never being able to listen to normal XMAS music again because his lyrics keep popping in your head?

Yeah, thanks for that btw.

And making me sing it to myself even:

Crackheads smile,
but their toothless ~
all the while
I feel ruthless . . .
'Cuz its such a shame
I know them by name,

Walking in this Winter Wonderland.

See?

damn, something gave me the smile I needed today. Hey Raph, no need for apologies, life is what it is and it can't be denied no matter how much some folks would like to make it seem like it just isn't out there..

its reality bros...it's reality.

Enjoyed, this slice of reality today.
Thank you.

Aenimal,

this is bitingly poignant. I can see how it might be mistakenly taken as some cruel joke because of alluding to a Christmas song, but looking deeper, it is a time of year when people remember the saddest, darkest times of their lives. The holidays bring out depression in a lot of us.

here's to a quick coming of spring.

Here in New Orleans, a window dresser had himself a moment and built a Christmas/Holiday/Winter display that included tiny little blue tarp roofs, refrigerators on the curb, etc.

Some of the public got offended and he had to take it down due to complaints.

Then the rest of the public got organized, and guess what? It's back.

Just like you!

(and izzat an "x" on yer pillow?)

I've read this several times over the past days... and like it more every time. It is a sense of humor that helps turn grim into grin... And even if those grins fade, they brighten a grim reality for a moment... and leave a flicker of hope.

Excellent work... one I'll look forward to seeing reposted every year. *S*
