Blank and bleak
I am left
emotionless
as I stand here
listening
to the stillness
for a sound

any sound

that might bring
distraction
from this
emptiness

but no matter how loud
my thoughts scream out

only, silence remains

and I,
tilt my head,
trying to catch an echoe
of yesterday
but time...

time has slipped away
replaced by
modern day...

amidst all of this noise
held in refrain..

only, silence remains.

seek the flame within yourself
and let your soul be cleansed by
the fire of love.  Axel Ekenstierna

You know sometimes in that silence comes the most incredible direction and the very answers we were searching for I hope that is what happens in this case.  Very sad this poem but incredibly good and heartfelt.

Let there be peace on earth,
and let it begin with me.

Very well done Donna!

it does get better.  Sometimes the people in our lives need to take a break in order to see how good they have it.

It was that silence that gave painful birth to your exquisite poem, that so many of us have loved and understood - and hidden in that silence, so many voices have emerged of friends who obviously know and love you so much.  Although I am new here (well, relatively), I would be honoured to be counted amongst your friends and to add to the voices wishing you well.

Sometimes my friend, silence is golden!
The silence in your poem screamed!
Good work!

There is a healing to be found within the cloak of silence,a catharsis, a time to think, to dream,to "be"....thank you..
