Because events
Are coming to their close
Though
For different reasons
You and I are drawn
To each other on the floor

The country band is playing
Something soft to end the night
There actually is
A smell of hay
In the air

And we can imagine
Who we are
In time and place
Given another chance
To make the old moon smile

The violin’s music waltzes us
Beyond all judgment
Or due diligence

Yet who are we to care
