in a shower of purple mists
I arrived, au courant
snowflake dustings of shy
making acquaintence

fascination carried my eyes
high along the canopy where
you dared tangle bare, free
an art I'd only dreamed

below,
you found my surreptitous bore
chary of my palette
but mirages offer no threats,
merely reflections

beside your envied grace, gnarled
twigs reach and knotted wood shadows
coquet gracefully though maple
quietly seeps in taste of another

between thin lines of always
and never, my own hunger pined
relentless songs of "if only"
my passed away tears rising
from shallow grave to strum
aching harmony of "what was"

so loud here, so cold...

crumbs failed the little children
and I do know my way home

amid the canopy is where magical
creatures dwell
I'd long ago traded my piddling
powers to be a layman's wife
and everything he says

turns gold...

again, Tier, you have left me awestruck

Tier ... The verse beginning "beside your envied grace ..." is beautiful. Very well done. Bob

*smiling at you*

Gosh, agreeing with Ed here, like a fine brush script, that is how you write.
