I do not know where the words came from, or how they managed to escape the cool grasp of my lips, so tenderly bound.. I do not know why I say what I say in such tones that never quite suit your ears, or why they occasionally crawl from languid places, dark insane captivity, but they are merely words.. I know why you comfort me now, crossing my boundries and marking my territory as unrefined. My trying times have measured up to nothing, with you, I have no excuse. My rough hands and broken skin show that I have nothing to prove and no reason to justify my tears to you..but birds do not cry, they sing in spite of their sorrow, I have plenty of tomorrows to grow a new heart. I cannot let the sadness define me.. only the strength you stole. it is still mine.. . . . I don't know why the words never seem to clarify the fact that I am unrefined.. and feel not a single shred of guilt because of it. |

..but birds do not cry, they sing in spite of their sorrow, I have plenty of tomorrows to grow a new heart. I cannot let the sadness define me.. only the strength you stole. it is still mine.. It sure is and in a very refinely held state. My, this was heart wrenching, but through to the end there is a visible tenacity and strength. Well done Meg. |

"My rough hands and broken skin show that I have nothing to prove and no reason to justify my tears to you..but birds do not cry, they sing in spite of their sorrow, I have plenty of tomorrows to grow a new heart." Your "singing" is complex and exquisite, Kaoru. ....jo |

"birds do not cry, they sing in spite of their sorrow, I have plenty of tomorrows to grow a new heart." ~ Keep that thought, Meg! It's a good one! You certainly do have a marvelous way of expressing yourself! Your strength has not been lost in the sadness! Hugs with love, Linda |

reading you is like sitting back and watching myself, in the earlier stage of my life...I love what you do, how you think and feel, then...how you place it on paper, just so honest...there is no 2nd guessing with you gal..and thats why your poetry, to me, is so so good! |

I will never, never tire of reading you. This part sounded so familiar to me, and you wrote it so perfectly. I have wondered those things myself meg, and its baffling. Write moooooore! |

This is utter beaty, Meg and good for you: but birds do not cry, they sing in spite of their sorrow, I have plenty of tomorrows to grow a new heart. |

"I do not know why I say what I say in such tones that never quite suit your ears, or why they occasionally crawl from languid places, dark insane captivity, but they are merely words.." Reminds me of when I was married and when I would reach my breaking point the most hideous things would spew from my mouth...I felt bad that I was capable of it yet not bad that I had done it towards him... "I have nothing to prove and no reason to justify my tears to you" Took me decades to understand that...I wasted so much time trying to make someone understand me. "I don't know why the words never seem to clarify the fact that I am unrefined.. and feel not a single shred of guilt because of it. I am not convinced that unrefined is a bad thing. Meg, this is, of course, a master piece with it's message... I am keeping it. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" ~Unknown~ |

The sadness, yet over coming strength, leaves me without the right words to tell you how this has touched me. Excellently expressed misc |

I read your poem, I read the replies, and agreed with just about everything that was said. ~ Enjoyed this one, for sure. |
