The Dreams Of A Gay Sled Dog

They brought in the motivational guy,
the one with the mnemonic name
I can never remember.
Somewhere in the middle of
three hours in the middle
of a middle table, with time
to think how life is made by doing
things you'd rather not do,
in places you'd rather not go, and
with people you'd rather not be around,
I added a line to that: listening
to some clown with a Z in his name
(or was it two K's?) dig for truffles
in the training budget again.

The office clerk flicks off the lights
as if no one were still here.
My own lights went out hours ago,
so it doesn't seem a challenge
to finish marking this report
in the dark. Now I want to,
that's the oddity; one minute
of black where it's always bright
feels like dragging up the sun
to finish what it left today.
I wonder; will there be light
enough when I get home, to see
how much the lawn needs mowing?
Somehow I know there will be.

Ed

Dang...this is so original and fresh...and then the last about the lawn, just brought me almost to tears.  You are amazing.  If it's too dark, don't imagine how it is...just go inside and relax...tomorrow will come soon enough.

Truer words were never spoken! *S*

I read this... and I think one word... brilliant. *S* So I read again... and yes... that's it... multi-faceted, glowing... brilliant. *S*

Great work with this Ed...although I confess the Gay Sled Dog title almost stopped me from reading this'n.

I just pictured 'em all lined up and...wince, yep. Sorry.

But I'm with Mag on his comment, and I can only add that there is a tone of stoic loneliness to this that made me rather sad.

Nicely done.

Wrap up all the replies that you have received thus far, put a ribbon around it, and this is my response (albeit recycled) to your fine post!

LOL, time management motivational mumbo jumbo and ziglerisms? I refuse to attend any more sessions like I did years ago when in a sales position. Not that I manage my time or finances well, mind you, but I found those sessions to be largely a WASTE of both my time and moolah.
But yanno, I HAVE seen gay sled dogs in action and I want you know I laughed at the title, but not the write.
Hugs, and hoping there will always be enough light.
