Birds fell from the skies,
squirrels fell to their knees.
A quake of great size
toppling many trees.

It came from a place
they called Flattus Swamp
leaving not a trace
of wildlife to romp.

It was a June day
when the sound was heard.
Six point four they say
was the forecast word.

Air filled with stench,
a fog thick and green.
Birds lay on the bench
not able to preen.

Dogs did howl and hunt
for air not so foul.
‘til they heard the grunt
that made them all growl.

Dinner caused a roil
within Gridley’s jeans
a green gas to spoil
tender tasty beans.
