(Posted just because I've read 2 poems about eggs. Might as well add my contribution although it's an old piece.)
It came to pass on a day not too long past that an egg broke from its shell and briefly viewed the world before the gold of its soul trickled slowly to the floor and mingled with the dirt and grime of artful humankind.
It lay inert and hurt unable to return to the safety of its birthing place but it tried, yes it did, to gather all its parts and at least face the world complete and all together.
Futile and to no avail were its weak endeavours and it was forced to remain static on the floor waiting for “opportunity” to come knocking at the door.
Bang-bang and then it come on all fours through the door but the egg in its eagerness rushed to waiting arms and as they met midway “opportunity” had its day before sliding on its way off into the past.
So then the soul was left on that selfsame dirty floor until its inner core hardened like a pebbled stone discarded by a boulder at a roadside resting place before ascending to the house of all big stones located at the place where all big stones grow old. (Now you can breathe)
Finally and indubitably the yolk of soul became affixed and for a lifetime, maybe more, lay stuck in human ways and turned from golden yellow to a dark and murky brown not dissimilar to the dust of dismay.
And so it was the “white part” was distanced from its soul and bore the brunt of neon lights that turned its edges up and made it walk unaided along the surface of existence in the light but denied the fullness of a life.
The moral of the story? No, I’d rather not go there in case I find my “white part” has distanced from my soul!

Thanks "everyone" for the read. Jo - it just goes to show that some things never die but walk along in tandem until, of course, WE die!

Thanks, Linda. The everyday happenings of life all have a story to tell which we interpret in different ways according to perception ... but "imagination" covers it well enough.
