Listening to every heart

Egg Shelled Heart

Eggs should be
bedeviled more often,
I’m thinking,
instead of just around
holidays, and specially garnered
gatherings…

maybe if that were to happen
the edges wouldn’t be so
sharp,
or the memories of other voices so
loud…

I know a poet who wears
open her heart in the near to end
of winter, just before the gift
of greening spring

her crooning to a love that will
never die…
always pauses us in the middle of the
month of love…

as she loves her fullest, strongest,
lighting a candle in the dark

My month now seems to be
November…

when it actually starts in September,
when some will never comprehend
this process of everlove

Put it behind you…

No, I won’t.  I wouldn’t even do that
to you.

But it comes to me, when bedeviling eggs,
those sharp shelled memories digging
into the wrinkled parts
of my fingered brains

it comes to me…your voices,
laughter, tears of joy…that there will
always be a reason for thanksgiving…

for carrying me, sharing me,
teaching and loving…
all those things that sometimes
words just cannot
explain.

Happy Thanksgiving…
for all of the living, bequeathed
to memories….

NOvemeber will become a time of great importance to you, as February is to me.  Not something to skip, but to revere.  Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend and sister...I love deviled eggs too, and you!!

This is simply wonderful and a good reminder to be thankful every day!  It seems I once wrote about a broken egg - off to hunt as this seems to be the season for ... eggs!     Helen

Wonderful wording..

You know, it's the things in life we only get to enjoy on a rare occasion that is the very things we appreciate the most.

It will always be so....and love will always pull you through. No, don't put it behind you....let the pain go where pain goes, and the happy memories come when they will...and remember, always.

So much of your writing is all about images, which you sketch so skillfully.  Well done!  Ken

And to you dear friend for making the holiday brighter through the memories that made it so in the past. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Karalea,

Yes, softening those edges is just what is needed around the holidays.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was strange, but that's okay.
