Please don't cook me
don't eat me up
I am going to spit up

I don't want to die
I want to stay alive
don't cut me with a knife

I want to live
walk on my hind legged feet
killing me is a terrible defeat

I want to walk around
I may give signals to you
I may go "how do you?"

I want to be your friend
please can you show the same feelings
why am I to blame?

If you eat
I may taste yucky
I eat a lot of things mucky

Please I beg of you
not to get rid of me
I might do one of my turkey dances
if you listen to me

Poetry can get you very far

Laura,
Most of the turkeys lost that argument I'm sure. But just for the record there is no turkey on our table. What about yours?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

our table was graced with tofu, stuffing, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cranberry sauce, and a traditional homemade pumpkin pie

so today, I can look a turkey in the eye and
smile as I gobble up the leftovers
