If I could but taste of the dew of heaven or his bread unleaven Then I could know suffering equated as a distant glory unrated. If I could but see His face Where then does rest the dew of heaven Then the mouth of truths space And would manna I feed unleaven Like a chick, from mothers beak, regurgitated If I could but touch His garments hem Would not the gospel unfold to them as a living river in me pouring out to the people of formed sea If I could but hear of compassion would not my lust be severed at the stem and in me would be the burn of the kings passion to say to the least you are the greatest to Him and to him I’d say my all given is to small from me. |
