~the reaper and me~ As a tiny frail child, when the reaper came for me, my mind and spirit were too busy in some boggeldy woods, determined to play. So disappointment was his that fateful day; not long before, he had managed to spirit my older brother Darrel away. And when my casket was ordered I was nowhere to be found. So pale and weak was I, not expected to live, they had already dug up a nearby piece of ground. But through that silent night my soul ran through brilliant waving poppy fields, and ignored what that country bumpkin doctor said. I vowed not to be dead before my first birthday. And guess who still loves poppies at the ripe old age of sixty? Me! But oh, though that grim reaper still visits me around this same time each year, I tell him where to go, and when! Of Death, I have no fear. |

Kacy I had a visit from him also, when I was not quite two. I sure am glad you stuck around and gave him the boot!! I would have missed you!! Because I'm a bit older than you, I see him coming for me often too. ![]() |

I remember you telling me this story Kacy. Yep, you had other plans and I, for one, am so glad that you did. Cheers my friend... ![]() |

To fear is futile When you take visit from he that bears the sickle It is how you stand up to him that matters As a child you laughed in his face "So disappointment was his that fateful day;" The poppies do not fear him They stand against hells dry wind The beauty in their petals Are a reflection of heaven as is the bravery in the words of this poem. They, do not fear the reaper... His treachery being only found in nature In the minds of men *"Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain We can be like they are" Apparently some of us are... --------------------ice ><> *from "Don't Fear The Reaper"- Blue Oyster Cult |

Kacy? For several reasons... perhaps even more, I am going to library this as an unexpected gift from a lovely friend. ![]() |

You are just full of surprises. Thanks for sharing this one. I think I've seen his shadow once or twice, but he's been pretty elusive for me. Well said. Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

Like you, I think, there are many things I fear...but that's not one of them. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |
