Toss ribbon trails across dip blue sky
“Innocent am I!” she cries.   Still
The balloon only begins to rise.

“Must I fight?”  called she
“Become the balloon, in lead?  Or
Shall the succumbing string I be?”

Hazing breaths of fire wind send
Both to higher depth.
Dangling string of inquest
Weeps once, more than twice has wept.

Sounds like a very bad day at work, sis.  Hang in there (whether that be as the string or the baloon in the turbulence).  You painted a very emotional write.  If they made you cry, you just tell them I'm going fly up there to Ohio and have a little !!!WORD!!! with them!!!!!!  Love you........jo

iliana,
Not about me at all, but rather about one of the most conscientious people I've ever met.  I just understand how politics work and am empathetic.
   Thanks for commenting.

well, then, you've written well, the political aspect of the work place, one of which I refuse to play, even if it does mean my job.  yanno, it's getting so, people are rewarded for bad behavior, and doing a good days work, means nothing anymore...no one seems to know they're jobs, they must hire consultants to do so.

I'm with ya sis...written very very well!

Great job with this one woman.
Some things remain alive and well, no matter how forward thinking we try to be.
Have witnessed and experienced the balloon and the string...a flight I would rather spend in my poetry.
Hugs,
TD

LeeJ,
So good to hear from you again.  Yeah, I agree.  My husband works with mentally retarded.  Those who have compassion and high expectations are being replaced by a  political machine with little background or compassion.  Last week, they relieved the last good administrator of her position, so they could replace her with a yuppie.  This process has been going on for three years, so as not to be evident by the community.  They have completely destroyed the community employment program that took years to build up.  The clients used to feel so good about themselves and took more pride in their work than many individuals.  I doubt this takes place in many programs for the mentally retarded.  The people who work in these type programs usually are phenomenal.
My poem wasn't about his situation, but, yes, I understand how mediocrity can set in.
I'm glad you stick to your guns.

TD,
It seems like forever since I've written.  That makes it an extra pleasure to hear from you again.  And, I too, am glad that you pursue poetry over the balloon situation!   I'm going to keep this short so I can dive into your poetry.  Again, nice to hear from you.

Hugs right back to ya, TD.

You inspired me this morning, dear lady -- as you often have done.

This time, it was to write. /pip/Forum93/HTML/003523.html

Understanding this one. Hey, your hubby's job is similar to mine. I am the recipient of a 'peon paycheck' (my 'lot in life' when I chose to work with developmentally disabled (other abled) as a caregiver)
The company I work with is so good to the population they serve; putting the client's dignity, respect, and enhanced quality of life on the table as the first steps in providing care. But as a whole, the industry just doesn't pay anything above poverty wages. SIGH. Sorry to carry on so much. LOL

Miscee

You know, I was a teacher for many years....a preschool teacher who mainstreamed handyable children into her classroom.  A very rewarding job, but not monitarily.  I so know what you mean!

Hi, misc'e!

You have been conspicuous by your absence! I hope you can stay awhile. Your poems always give me chance to pause for ponder.

I also enjoyed reading all of the responses that your poem engendered! ~ including your own!

'Tis a sad scenario that is being played out everywhere. Up here in Canada as well.

Warm hug,
EA
