Where moonlight makes an inquisition of the lake Swathed in starlight lingers tender fingers purpose heard Drifts the oar, drawn in long, serene strokes Here hearts sound their deafening drum, accepting space Excepting noise that could distract the trace of tenderness Calm holds a hospitable whisper Moving with the lullaby of waves that lift and drop Welcoming my body in cupped hands In aftermath of storms weakening the barrier of fable and fane Here hearts cling and let the sable songs contain hypnotic verse The warmth of admiration radiates desires embers Thus lasting long enough until the heart remembers Flowing out into concentric circles with the tides Claiming you will know the hollow where my love resides Bearing promise on the lips of dawn, quietly as night goes on Afloat beneath the comfort of your skin, tie and anchor taken in Copyright Kkh 11/11/05 |

Kathleen, I read and think to myself, this is the best poem she's ever written, and then....along comes another one. From the first line, this one grabbed me. I loved "sable songs," (just one example).....exquisite! ![]() |
