TAPS
(A Lone Bugler)

Engaged for the service, this sullen lone bugler sings.
Singer for the lost, the brave, and Patriots for truth…

He alone designated to portray this lonely song
of love, honor, and respect as he cries trumpeting blues…

Unchanging… the words unspoken, the lonesome tune always the same, yet
Never to miss a note, and never to be refrained.

He possesses the song of death, in that he sings well trained.
To give to all who have died, their last word,
for their memories sustained.

Dear JL...
this fits the moment, today, even yesterday, ever tomorrow.  Thank you for this heart of poem.
