oh, lonely man you high paid juggler jokes now, laying at your feet tell me, what guide books see ahead? will there be asbestos models… playing tricks or treat? or anti-acids for slow dancing hypothesis filling your collection box? oh lonely man in leaky boat with black-footed philosophy, a pourin from your mouth standing there in skeleton suit glowing in the dark oh lonely man lonely man i don’t hear much applause pounding your royal palace oh lonely man what happened to your enthusiasum has one afternoon caught an infectious pandemic? when bio-chemistry turned all your lights off? oh lonely man how good is your memory retrieval? what kind of people were your personal issues? déjà vu drops down on your bed? the one with nervous trigger fingers holding a gun to your head armed cold & violently shaking your steps oh lonely man, their the ones you claimed were great heights nauseating promises you said were future headlines as your desires bumped in the night oh lonely man your searchlight lays droned in the street your air raid siren takes first watch you’ve made a mess like the media blood shot eyes, now old and dead holes in your socks oh lonely man, on short term summer docks trickling out decay, all eyes are upon you & your talkativeness, cannot explain the losses your victims felt and lonely man, what about all those lovely homes you burnt to the ground oh lonely man what is potentially divine for all our sakes? god dabs at your swollen eyes with volunteer work and still... your no closer to tears, then you were before walking in white rubble stretching out for miles i think about your fake letters and i shudder still looking down at all those stale yellow lights when you laughed like i was the clown you refused to leave your ideas were a leaking gas main about to explode with sub committies for roe vs wade history is going to wonder what kind of person you are treating adoration with a vengence discharged oh lonely man I’m straining to hear your skull like mask up close complacent face extended with harmful claws hands bleeding coughing up sickening dust oh lonely man lonely man in shadowed recessed rubble smelling the gas leak while digging through all that evil unaware of injuries all those lives you asphyxiated with touch you jarred plaster loose while wearing your look that seduced & your methyl tapping shoes with inflated ego oh lonely man lonely man yesterdays’ were your dream artificially induced names all dead and laying at your feet it’s so late now while you clutch your brown paper bag file shuttering from those kickback flares drowning in varicolored argyle running running the lonely man cut by rusty tin shears of life you can’t find your way back home you sit & quake spitting up ghostwrites your line of credit slumps over your desk all alone... going bump in the night oh lonely man ************************************************* inspired by a documentary bout men/women who use people for selfless desires and success instead of seeking help. These people actually think they are not doing anything wrong. They can only express themselves by making love... to them, it's their power, when, in fact they are really very insecure, and feel they have nothing else going for them... and everyone of them, thinks they are the best lovers in the world... they only feel good about themselves when they are in a new relationship sad, very sad, the lives they've destroyed [This message has been edited by LeeJ (11-03-2005 11:00 AM).] |

I think some have their art down as a craft..love making is a sport, a numbers game. They do need help |

They may get their jollies and an inflated sense of power, but indeed, 'tis a lonley life one lives when one is a taker and not a giver. Lonliness and emptiness permeated this write. For a giver such as yourself, you were able to describe such an existence, exceptionally well. May you get your just desserts in life! Linda |

I really would have left out the explanation. It could have been read as being about a tyrant over a nation or a single woman and, as is, very good John |

I have known a few men that acted out their lives this way, and also a couple of woman. Some are actually admired by those less successful in certain parts of life..I have noticed that some stand out as great conquers, especially in political circles...but most are cowards in their personal life...some ending up like Richard Cory, who for some odd reason kept popping into my head as I read this? "And he was rich—yes, richer than a king, And admirably schooled in every grace: In fine, we thought that he was everything To make us wish that we were in his place. So on we worked, and waited for the light, And went without the meat, and cursed the bread; And Richard Cory, one calm summer night, Went home and put a bullet through his head." (E.A.Robinson-from "Richard Cory") It is odd where your poetry takes me, LeeJ, but I always enjoy the trip..... ------------ice ><> |

LeeJ, you wrote this so well. People such as these are indeed lonely people, and full of so much anger. |

In a way, I agree with John regarding the explanation, but I prolly woulda asked anyway--I thought you were talking about our president! But nodding, those people are...vampires. Nothing will do but the next "fix"... I enjoyed this much Lee. Although I generally admire all of your work, I find this piece more focused. Applauding you yet again... |

Lee J, I think you could write on anything and anyone and get right to the core as you've done here. You are so very perceptive. Well done on this exposé! Excellent writing as usual but how sad to think that there are so many people like this around. |

LeeJ I thought the same as Serenity. So very well done, as your poetry always is...and I always learn something because what you have to say is smart and profound. Thank you. |
