Crayola’s of A Woman
~*Marge Tindal*~

This day of birth
Soft shaded pink
Baby girl coos and smiles the ink

Every shade of fun in play
Greets growing toddler on this day

All the gaiety of teens’ adorn
Fuchsia, silver and chartreuse worn

Puppy loves and one that stays
in the heart of budding woman for always

Business black and earthy tones
Set the mood for growing
knowing with confidence
just where she is going

Sidetracked with a heart in love
finding another with which to share
‘Tis virgin white that she will wear

Swell of belly in expect
of family in begin
Baby girl born, softest pink
she wraps the little one in

Suddenly in black of night
Green of jealousy takes flight
Escalating quickly into …
the darkest shades of black come blue

Years of beatings
compounded by his cheating
goes on behind closed doors
Not shared with others is this black shame
shaded with the gray of misplaced blame

Perhaps she is just not strong enough
to break the Crayola colors of the rough
Until there comes a night in rage
when daughter, now teen, calls his bluff

Suddenly woman of lioness strength
commands a stop to the abuse
steps between the child and man
taking full brunt of his enraged hand

Crimson stains the carpet
as woman is taken to task
How in the world could this be happening
one might dare to ask

Sirens sound, blue lights flash,
to the Emergency Room they make the dash
Will there be a miracle in-the-making
for the woman hanging on for dear life ?
Battered and worn … she confronted the storm
suffering the abuse from a spouse

The room reeks of death
No more is there the breath
from a woman so Crayola’d by life
Ghastly white in repose
lies this now faded rose
as the organ so beautifully plays
her favorite Sunday song
though she no longer can sing along
daughter knows the angels are welcoming her home~
“When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.”

Marge/sis

Such a sad story, played way too often.  I love the originality of the crayola colors in your version.  Well done!!

Marge, you wrote this so beautifully. It is so sad, though. There are way too many woman being abused. As well as the dear children. It stirs so much anger inside me, when I hear of this happening.

Oh Marge! Such a heart-breaking, sad poem. I know only too well about abuse. I lived it most of my childhood. Whether it be child abuse or spousal abuse, it must stop!!!!

Love,
Patricia

Marge, thank you for telling a story and perhaps there is a woman on this board who will find the courage to walk away from an abusive situation.

This is beautifully penned. hugs, Marti

This began in sweet pink innocence then took a turn into a dark abusive situation so vivdly.  One of my daughters had a horrible abusive marriage, so I know well the sadness involved.

God bless.
