Oh Joe
Surely by now we both must know
That nothing we are say or do
Will really in reality matter

While convicted well jailed murderers
Deemed wronged or poorly understood
Will still be conjugally visited
Regardless of their natures

So lift the cup
And drink what wine
There is within
While there’s still time
Don’t bother about perception

That we’re laid down
Beneath the stone
Beyond all love or reasoning
Is ample condemnation

A stirring, intriguing write, John. I've often questionned some unknown force in the sky: ? why should I be "good" when it doesn't seem to matter when some really really horrid people get a (better) meal some days and don't pay for their internet connections or their utility bills?
But I am not driven by any specific credos,  I just forge ahead believing the golden rule is a basic truth that remains unattached to religious persuasions or the lack therof.
