Great Golly Hoppers ~*Grandma Poet*~  One little girl in such obvious glee thought a ‘Hopper’ she’d like to see So different from big sister, Delaney, is our little bug-lover, Landry Leigh~ Curious and curiouser she became at the ‘Hoppers’ on parade Until one jumped too close to her little hand Shrieking she screamed, “eeeee!” Then, “Poet, ‘Hopper’ scare me!” ~Poet~ to the rescue quickly calming the nerves of this girlie grand Yet the next time she sees ‘Hopper’ she’ll want to hold him in her hand~ ~*~ ~This grandie girlie LOVES bugs !~ Oh my, rhymes with *Hugs* So ~Poet~ will just have to see that she gets enough of both~ ~*No matter what I search for ... |

Aww, sweet innocence! Very nicely worded to explain her inquisitive expressions. Landry's reactions reminded me of my oldest daughter at age 2. Going down the outside steps to our English basemnt, she picked up a monarch butterfly. With an ear to ear smile, she said, "I got a butterfly...EEEEEE," trembling as she tossed it. She cried, "There's a bug under it!" She'd thought they were just wings. |

Dear Marge I use to pick up 'hoppers' when I was a child. I'd put them in a jar with grass etc and put a lid on (with holes in it). I'd observe them for the day and then when dusk came, I'd set them free. Back then we never had 'bug catchers'. Of course, I would not pick them up now! A lovely photo and verse of Landry! Ah..this is fun! My girl has always loved bugs...and snakes! *ACK* I tried so hard when she was little to be brave, so she would not be "askeered" of such things...and she still loves them at 7 yrs old loved the poem..loved the pics too! hugs, g "A tiger who does not prowl becomes a rug..." ;) |
