wide as the afternoons

i love you, and shout it to the sky
to a squadron of birds against the light
so that you’ll hear me, beloved

oh but how you open your arms to me
and touch me from far away
wide as the afternoons

you speak to me of forgotten wishes
the pale dreams which collapse you
and you collapse me
with the moon that survives in your eyes
brilliant as a lamp

and oh how it warms my soul
an argosy of kisses filled with your soul
filled with my sea-music

smiling, this reminds me of an exchange I would have with my children...

"I love you," I would say.

"How much?" they would ask, knowing what I would answer.

"A sky-full."

beautiful you

Have you ever read the child's book,
"Guess How Much I Love You" with the bunnies?

This reminded me of that and also it reminded me, of a beautiful woman standing on the crest of a wave,
her hair, streaming wild, blowing with the wind, like a Goddess and her arms, outstretched to the Heavens just screaming . . .

And all of this
reminded me of a song
from a youth that has been
long gone...

but with this?

Well, you've returned some
warm thoughts...

and for this, little one, I thank you!

I truly loved this...I came around hungering for some good poetry--and I found it.

Dark Angel, I enjoyed your poem.  My favourite parts were "wide as the afternoons" and "filled with my sea-music".
