Sam Bailey went up
past Fourways Farm,
morning hung with mist,
cool clinging autumn crisp.
Vermilion, lemon yellow, rust
hued leaves, scattered neath
his feet, crunching, fungal
miasma rushing on air.
Five Oaks looked sullen,
fading golden amber in
new sunburst light, burning
off early lingering fog.
Thinking to himself, he
had to agree with
the Bishop, Thompson Valley
never looked more picturesque
than at days dawn.
Richlands of sweet scented
fields, crops tattered, faded
now, Grapefield vineyards stretched
in painstakingly ordered, trained
rows; hung with polished gleaming
fruit, plant pearls each,
picked out by sunbeam
sparkle, succulent opaque virescent,
japanned burgundy. Sweeping eyes
across the ageless vista,
Pleasant Hill rose out
of phoenix sun flare, moist
loamy land descending to
Pounding Mill. Gurgling water
ran glistening over wooden
wheels, silver circles of
Adams Ale, meandering to
Rockhouse, boiling up to
cloud white foam, pristine
clear.Succumed salmon lay
on rocky shores, blank eyes
pecked by solitary Raven.
Finally the days clinch,
her standing upon the
covered bridge, smiling through
it all, at him,
his pulse of life.

Phil, you've painted a gorgeous scene with a masterful brushstroke. I enjoyed the variegated colors, the scents, and the sound of gurgling water. Nice capture of the reader's sensory attention! And the emotional capture, when you position someone on a bridge...
